1) All of my recipes are based on mixing 4 OUNCES OF PLASTIC! This is how I started pouring, and it’s best to pass it on to you. Therefore, I will not restate this for every color listed. PLEASE REMEMBER THIS!! It is very important because I’m sure you know it will strongly effect the way your colors turn out.
2) Neon colors or veins are based on mixing 2 OUNCES OF PLASTIC! See number 1. Again, VERY IMPORTANT!!
3) I purchased the bulk of my materials from 2 different companies: Lure Craft and MF Manufacturing. From now on, Lure Craft will be listed as LC and MF Manufacturing will be listed as MF. On the off chance that I used a different supplier, that company name will be listed.
4) Hi-Lites will be listed as HL
5) Teaspoon will be listed as tsp.
6) There are 3 basic sizes of flake: small (.015), medium (.035), and large (.062). Yeah……yeah……I know there are “micro”, “jumbo”, “string”, etc., but for now, I will stick with these 3 sizes. From now on they will be listed as: Small = sm., Medium = med., Large = lg. I seldom used other sizes, but if I did, rest assured it will be noted. I will not list the company names for flake/glitter (LC or MF) because they are interchangeable.
7) 2 and 3 color mixtures are listed as 1) first pour 2) second pour, etc. with number one being the “back” and number 2 (or 3) being the “belly”.
8) Look for the special NOTE listing under some of the color mixtures. These are VERY helpful.
BASIC COLOR REFERENCE:
1) NEONS: Ah yes…….that incredible “Neon” effect seen most often as bloodlines or split veins in the middle of worms. Everyone has their own neon mixture, but I’ll stick with mine because I’ll gladly put them up against anything I’ve seen on the market! Here’s an example of a NEON base color…….
Example: BLUE NEON
3 drops LC Blue
2 drops LC Black
1/8 tsp. LC Blue HL
By reading your text above, you will notice that: A) I didn’t list “in 2 ounces of plastic” because I have already stated that neons are mixed in 2 ounces of plastic, B) I didn’t need to write out Lure Craft because it’s listed as LC in the key, and C) I didn’t need to write out teaspoon because it’s listed as tsp. in the key.
Bottom line here is read and study the information above and you will become very familiar with terms, abbreviations, mixtures, etc. It may sound difficult now, but trust me…….you’ll get the hang of it in no time!
ANOTHER COOL LITTLE NEON TIDBIT:
The basic neon colors that I poured were: Blue, Green, Gold, Purple, Red, and Orange. The same recipe listed above for BLUE NEON can be replaced by any of the other colors mentioned. In other words…..
GREEN NEON
3 drops LC Green
2 drops LC Black
1/8 tsp. LC Green HL
…..and so on and so forth with the other neon colors. If there is an oddball neon color listed, I will certainly make note of that. Chances are, that neon color might require a different recipe. But for now, the 6 colors listed above can be interchangeable.
2) When I say black, I mean BLACK! 30 drops of LC black in 4 ounces of plastic, or 15 drops of LC black in 2 ounces for a vein. There are other varieties of black (example: smoke & dark smoke) and those will be noted throughout the listings.
3) RED: same mixture as black………I mean RED!
4) I am not going to spend a lot of time on single color pours. Example: Watermelon Seed. I hope at this stage of your pouring venture you know that is simply watermelon with black flake. However, I will list some of the more common single colors because lots of other really cool colors can come from a basic single color pour.
5) I WILL be spending tons of time on 2 and 3 color pours. After all, I hope that’s why you bought this CD!! We will start with the boring single colors, then dual-colors, and move on to the incredible 3-color pours! All of these colors will be listed in alphabetical order within each heading.
Okay…….I think we’re ready to begin the recipe process. I know what you’re saying…….FINALLY - LOL!! Let’s give this thing a shot and see if we can’t make us some pretty mean colors! You may start by checking out the single color portion of the disc, then feel free to move on to the more difficult 2 and 3 color pours!
